David Clapp's Biography
David was first introduced to computers in the 4th grade where he learned to edit software on the classroom computer. He was quickly enrolled in the jump-start computer classes offered by DePauw University to the local community. The university's system administrator created an online account for David, who then convinced his parents to get a second phone line for his modem and began exploring Bulletin Board Systems and the early stages of the Internet.
At age 15, David was hired and trained as a certified computer repair technician and sales representative. He continued to work through high school and audited several courses in Computer Information Systems at DePauw. He was also an avid Commodore user and instructed in several copy protection techniques.
The knowledge David accumulated allowed him to compete and win several awards at regional science fairs in 1991 and again in 1992 where he also received the National Naval Science Award for his research in sub-cooled computer networking with liquid nitrogen.
After graduation, he left home to attend Franklin College and pursue degrees in both Art and CIS. It was at this time that he met a girl, fell in love and they both transferred to University of Southern Indiana to continue their academic goals. He began to apply his skills to graphic design and Flash animation while working to develop content for websites and web applications. David also learned how to create and debug websites using HTML, PHP, Actionscript, and Javascript.
David soon found greater success through systems administration and debugging web applications. He began providing technical support to a hosting company and helped create a second company in 2005. After a year of tech support, David became systems administrator remotely overseeing the data-center operations and customer support until the hosting company was purchased by the upstream data provider in 2006.
Harrison Gevirtz was a hosting customer and became friends with David Clapp. David provided hosting services until 2010 when he was offered full-time position at Eagle Web Assets. He dedicated himself to the job and Eagle Web Assets Internet presence grew to a network hosted in over 20 data centers across the globe. He currently oversees the development of the company's IT infrastructure and development while providing personalized technical support for all it's personnel. He has over 20 years of experience in a variety of systems and management and continues his education as the industry evolves.
David lives in Indiana with his wife and 2 children. An amateur astronomer and Volkswagen enthusiast, he volunteers his time repairing computers for local families and schools in his community. He hopes to one day find the classic Beetle he had customized and later sold while attending college.
