Mike Everhart's Biography
Mike Everhart has been a self-proclaimed geek since the age of nine, when his family got their first computer. The first of many life-defining moments came several months later when he broke the computer, and had to repair it before his parents returned home from work. Little did Mike know, this single adventure would shape his future.
By the age of 12, Mike's passion for knowledge and his intense desire to know how things work had given him a solid understanding of what makes a computer "tick". Soon after, having grown bored with the hardware side of computing Mike started to explore the world of programming. Almost immediately, he was addicted.
After programming for several years, Mike decided that it was time to get a website so he could share some of his creations. He had a problem though: he didn't know how to make a website. Never one to let something like this stop him, Mike decided that it would be a good time for him to learn. By age 15, Mike was well skilled in the process of creating websites, but he wanted to make better looking and more interactive sites. This lead to teaching himself how to use programs like Photoshop and Flash, and programming languages like PHP and MySQL to create graphical, dynamic, and engaging websites. By the time that Mike started junior high school he had already made websites for several local businesses, and was quickly gaining a reputation as "the website guy" around his town.
Upon graduating high school, Mike decided to forgo college and spent the next several years working various jobs to help provide for his wife and their recently born son. Most of his nights were spent at his computer creating websites for clients that he had secured in his spare time. When he wasn't working on a website, Mike could be found reading, studying, and learning new techniques to improve his programming and web design skills. As time progressed, Mike's hobby of designing websites was turning into more of a business, and was starting to take more time than he had to spare. With the support of his wife, Mike decided to quit his full time job so he could devote himself to his true passions of web design and programming.
Mike continued to mature as a programmer and web designer during his time as a freelancer. Constantly adding new skills to his repertoire, he was starting to become an all around "Internet Specialist" -- a title given to him by one of his clients. Mike's hard work and persistence eventually led to him securing several long-term clients. Most notably among them was the infamous young entrepreneur, Mr. Harrison Gevirtz.
During a business trip in 2008, Mr. Gevirtz introduced Mike to his associate, the legendary Mr. Ryan Eagle. Impressed by Mike's work, Mr. Eagle decided to use him as a contractor for some of the programming and web design jobs that he needed done. Their relationship as contractor and subcontractor escalated for about two years, until Mr. Eagle thought it would be a wise investment to hire Mike full time.
After Mike started working at Eagle Web Assets, he quickly assumed the role of project manager for many of the company's projects. He is also responsible for nearly every web-based property that the company owns; utilizing his skills and experience to increase their exposure, usability, and performance. The benefit of Mike's work has been demonstrated repeatedly in the form of search engine placement, website usability, the streamlining of processes, and affiliate acquisition and retention. Mike's ambition and work ethic, along with his knowledge, skills, and willingness to get his hands dirty have propelled him to the role of Vice President of Engineering.
While having many talents, Mike specializes in standards-based web design, ui/ux design, and programming. His preferred languages are PHP, MySQL, jQuery, xHTML, HTML5, and CSS. Mike is also a WordPress evangelist and guru, having personally made over 200 custom themes and plugins. Mike likes to spend his spare time with his wife and two sons, or with his three biggest hobbies: photography, amateur astronomy, and being a proponent of science and rational thinking.
